Ever since the invention of the television, it’s become a more important part of every home. We gather around them to watch our favorite movies, shows, and sports teams.
As time goes on, TVs continue to get better and better, and there’s some sense of pride in having the latest and greatest video technology available. With that in mind, here are five ways you can upgrade your TV in the coming year.
1 – Cut the Cord
Cable was one of the greatest TV innovations since the TV itself, but now we’re starting to move past it. Streaming services allow many people to stay up to date with all their favorite shows without paying for expensive cable or using cable boxes in every room.
To make sure you have access to all the entertainment you love, we recommend that you get a smart TV. This will allow you to connect to the internet and access all of your favorite apps without any additional equipment.
2 – Get Live TV
One downside to cutting the cord on cable is that it limits our access to live television. While binging your favorite show might be a modern way to watch, there are some things that are definitely better in the moment.
For example, people like to watch big sporting games like the Super Bowl or relevant events like the Oscars as they happen in real-time. Luckily, you can get those events over the airwaves, and some of the most advanced TVs have antennas built right in. If you don’t choose one that includes an antenna, you can have one put in when you get your TV installation.
3 – Go 4K (or Beyond)
No matter what you’re watching, it’s likely to be more enjoyable when it has the clearest picture available. The viewing experience changed when TVs went from standard definition to high definition, and we’re currently seeing the next great advancement in resolution.
4K TVs offer a crystal clear picture, and now you can even take things a step further and go all the way to 8K. For most viewers, 4K TVs are more than enough, but you may want to choose an 8K TV if you like to have the latest and greatest model of everything.
4 – Upgrade the Sound
The speakers that come in your TV will be good enough to get the job done for most viewing, but they’re not going to cut it when you want an experience with movie theater quality.

5 – Make it Smart
We’ve already discussed the benefits of going with a smart TV, especially if you want to stop paying for cable. If you want to take even greater control of your entertainment, you can integrate your TV with smart home technology.
Dim the lights, close the blinds, and navigate to your favorite app all with the same universal remote. A lot of home automation technology will even give you the option to control your entertainment system right through your phone or other smart devices.
